The year is slowly getting underway, and Škoda Auto is preparing some
major innovations. This year, it will launch two brand-new cars and also
celebrate an important anniversary. Škoda Weekly will, of course, be there for
all of it! Additionally, we have a signicant anniversary ahead of us – we will take
a look together at the present and behind the scenes of Škoda motorsport,
which is celebrating years this year.

years of success
The new Škoda car will be called
The all-electric Škoda Elroq has been awarded second place
in the prestigious ‘Car of the Year ’ (COTY). The jury,
composed of respected European automotive journalists,
cited the Elroq’s innovative design, cutting-edge technology
and outstanding value for money as decisive factors in their
decision. The Elroq scored a total of points, securing
Škoda’s best-ever European Car of the Year result.
The award ceremony took place in Brussels during the Brussels
Autoshow. The Mercedes-Benz CLA has become The Car
Of The Year with points. The third Kia EV scored
points.
Michael Kerschensteiner has been
appointed as a Chief Procurement

February . Michael Kerschensteiner
succeeds Karsten Schnake, who has
taken on a new role as a Member of the
Extended Executive Committee of
the Volkswagen Group and as Member of the Board
of Management of the Volkswagen Brand responsible
for Procurement. In his role as Chief Procurement Ocer,
Michael Kerschensteiner will also assume responsibility for
Procurement in the Region East within the Brand Group Core.
The legacy of Škoda Motorsport dates back to , when it began with
motorcycle races. It continues to this day, now with victories and titles in
the WRC category of the FIA World Rally Championship, the FIA European
Rally Championship and other regional and national rally series. To celebrate
its years anniversary, Škoda Motorsport is equipping each
Škoda Fabia RS Rally sold to customers with additional features.

throughout the year
with both events
and exhibitions of
historic cars and
a special livery on
the Fabia RS Rally.
The seven-seater electric SUV Škoda Peaq based on the Vision s concept will be one of
the premieres that Škoda has planned for this year. Peaq will become the largest electric vehicle
in the brand’s portfolio to date – and in fact the largest Škoda model overall.
The new model, built on the MEB electric platform, will feature the brand’s Modern Solid design
language. In Škoda’s model hierarchy, it will rank above the current Enyaq and Kodiaq, becoming
the agship of the Czech manufacturer’s lineup. The chosen name reects this status. The name
Škoda Peaq, derived from the English word peak, symbolising the top of the range, while also
continuing Škoda’s tradition of SUV model names ending with the letter Q.
